Ames is located at the intersection of I-35 and US-30 in central Iowa, approx. 30 miles north of Des Moines. From I-35: Take I-35 to US-30 west ( exit 111B ). Take US-30 west (approx. 3 miles or 3rd exit) to Elwood Drive north. Take Elwood Drive north ( 3 blocks ) to Mortenson Drive west. Take Mortenson Drive west ( 1.5 miles ) to Gateway Hills Drive south. South (left) on Gateway Hills Dr. You will see ice arena at this point on the right.
